It is a teacher’s job to constantly continue learning and bettering themselves for the sake of their students. That means that teachers should keep up to date on the useful tools available to them to use in their classroom. They can do this by reading blogs, setting aside time each month to research new things, and by attending a plethora of conferences that take place each year. Blogs are a great way to get ideas because they will only focus on what actually worked in the classroom.
Tools can be evaluated by comparing them to the ISTE standards and the activity types list to determine whether or not these tools will actually increase student learning and creativity. It is important that these tools engage higher levels of thinking in students too.
In my future career as a teacher, I will most likely keep up on this by following teacher or technology blogs. I will also learn by looking for tools that can do a specific task and stumble upon other tools that I like. Also, finding sites like webtools4u and multimediatools or teacher tools will be extremely helpful.
