Week 9: Reflecting on Presenting

When preparing my tech presentation for my classmates and for an extended audience to be previewing, I felt a lot of pressure to make my presentation stand out. There have been a lot of times when I have given presentations in class and have left feeling like I could have done much better, especially in comparison to how my peers presented their ideas. I learned it’s important to be really knowledgeable about the tool you’re presenting. If somebody asks a question, I should be able to answer it. It is also important to provide many examples—just because I am an expert on this tool does not mean my audience is. If I am not providing photos and examples, I am not providing my audience with the best learning experience possible.

After reviewing my feedback, I think that I would provide examples of using Toondoo.com in subjects other than literacy. Literacy gets a lot of attention, but other subjects are important too and it’s important to spark student’s interest in those other subjects, too. I am proud of my presentation. I love the tool and stand by the tool that I presented, and I thought that my presentation went well. I am glad the audience still got something out of my presentation even though health concerns kept me from attending class.

The concept of a lot of quick presentations could be very useful. I get bored very quickly and begin losing focus, so many short presentations would be a useful way for me to stay engaged and learn about a lot of different things at once. Teachers are also very busy, so small presentations like this would be useful in a meeting setting that doesn’t take a lot of time.

You can find the presentation I am reflecting on here.
